Keep Your Business In Compliance
It’s another one of those days. My brain is working on over-drive because there is a provincial election in Ontario next week. That means that some of the rules for small businesses operating in Ontario are going to change. Will it be to our advantage or will the government make life more difficult? Time will tell, I guess.
Rules and regulations are a regular part of doing business in Canada. It is important that your business is following federal, provincial and municipal laws.
If you operate a business in Canada, you are required by law to keep accurate books and records that can be examined, inspected or audited by the Canada Revenue Agency at any time they require.
Certain business operations require federal, provincial or municipal permits or licences.
Certain situations and business structures require that your business is registered with the various levels of government.
If you have employees, there are certain requirements you must ensure are in place.
If you are marketing, advertising or making sales, there are requirements you must meet.
If you collect, use or disclose personal information, there are rules you must follow.
If you import or export products and/or services, there are requirements you must comply with.
There are also municipal by-laws that may affect your business operations.
