Change... How Do You Cope?

I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to warm weather, coffee on the deck, and sunshine! It's been a long winter and spring seemed to be even more elusive than normal here this year.

Spring is a season of change. Not only is the weather changing, but people's energy levels are changing, businesses are changing, and soon we may even see a change in the Ontario provincial government. It's important to remember that change isn't always easy and it's not without its challenges.

Over the last year, there's been a significant amount of change for small business owners in Canada. Here in Ontario, businesses have been closing because of the high operating costs involved. Increasing hydro bills, minimum wage changes, changes to labour laws... they all take their toll on a business' bottom line. In places like Alberta and Saskatchewan, businesses in the oil and gas sector are facing an uphill battle to stay open due to the downward slide in investment in the industry and an unfriendly and uncertain political landscape.

Change is inevitable. We can't stop it. Instead, we learn to deal with it in ways that work for us. For some, that might mean laying off employees. Others may choose to look for additional funding to help off-set the cost of wage increases. Others, who don't have employees, may look at ways of saving on their hydro costs, the cost of supplies, or out-sourcing the work that they can't or don't want to do themselves.

AG Small Business services cares about the success of rural small business all across Canada. We are developing our services so they can be provided to any rural small business owner or self-employed individual within the country. That's how we are coping with the changing business environment.

Through the use of cloud technology, bookkeeping and payroll can be done from anywhere. Other support services can also be adapted to this technology as well. Video conferencing, email, and cloud-based sharing applications have changed the way business works. In the coming days, we will be updating the website with a section that explains how our services work and including a section for FAQ's.

In the meantime, don't be afraid to ask us what you want to know. We're here to help!
